Alex Brink Earns Top Honor
Washington State University graduates tend to have a variety of talents, anchored by a common foundation. That foundation is “integrity”. During the halftime ceremonies at tonight’s Cougar Hardball Classic in Seattle at Key Arena, Alex Brink will be recognized as someone who exudes integrity when he is presented with the ARA (Awards and Recognition Association) Sportsmanship Award for 2007. Brink was selected over all other Division 1 football players for his tremendous sportsmanship both on and off the field of play. You probably will recognize the names of the previous two recipients: DeAngelo Williams in 2005, currently with the Carolina Panthers and Brian Leonard in 2006, currently with the St. Louis Rams. Brink was selected from a pool of 10 finalists.
The award will be presented to Brink tonight by former great head football coach of the Brigham Young Cougars, LaVell Edwards. “He’s smart, poised, positive and gracious with his teammates, coaches, the media, fans, teachers and the community he serves. He leads his team with class on campus and in the community,” raves Edwards when discussing Alex Brink. “He’s wise beyond his years and someone young kids can and should look up to.”
Though Alex Brink may be remembered for what he did on the football field, his legacy will be that of an outstanding role model, competitor and leader. Say what you will about Alex Brink, he’s a young man with integrity. Yes folks, he’s a Coug. Those of us who have been fortunate to enhance our education and life experiences in the heart of the Palouse, Pullman, know what integrity is all about.
Congratulations Alex!

Nice article, Lew. Something I wouldn’t have otherwise known about. It’s nice to see integrity and class. And especially by a Coug.
